We are proud to be releasing our 2015 in magnums packaged as per prior releases with segments of original artwork in a presentation box, a canvas grid showing the original location of your three labels, and folio.
Our chosen artist for the 2015 vintage of depiction is Jason Sinclair Astorquia, who splits his time between Vallejo, CA and Taos, New Mexico. Trained as a Yale applied mathematician, Jason exited corporate life to pursue artistic endeavors full time a decade and a half ago. We commissioned an original acrylic on canvas painting, 120” by 60”, from his OZ series, which he has entitled “Nostalgia”. As seen above, multiple layers of paint are applied to the thick canvas horizontally, then vertically, then manipulated with a pallet knife when the paint is half set up. The resulting impasto color and texture patterns are beautiful and intriguing, ranging from pale sky to bright flame colorations which come together in a vibrant sherbert snapshot. The 2015 is the earliest harvest we have on record, September 8, a full month earlier than several of our other vintages. The depiction vineyard yielded a small crop of unctuously textured and impressively flavored berries. The resultant wine is expectedly rich, dense, and flavorful. Supple fine grain tannins and juicy natural acidity underpin the dark cherry characteristic marker of the depiction vineyard terroir.
2015
Rose petal and strawberry confiture aromas give way to a clean entry which opens up on the palate yielding a creamy fine grained texture and flavors of boysenberry, plum, cassis, and toasted almonds. The finish is ripe and unctuous with talc-like tannins suggesting an optimal drinking window from 5 to 20 years.
