Q. How can I purchase depiction?
A. depiction is offered almost exclusively through our mailing list. Our annual release goes directly to our mailing list members each Fall. Depiction can also be obtained through Acme Fine Wines, and Dean & Deluca in St. Helena.
Q. Where is depiction made?
A. we make depiction at a small family-owned winery in St. Helena which allows us to work on the wines ourselves, enabling us to do what is necessary, when it is necessary, to achieve ideal results.
Q. Who is depiction?
A. depiction is owned and managed by Sebastian and Estelle Lane, but is possible only due to the trust and access afforded to us by vineyard owners Jim and Nina Politoski.
Q. Why are the wines offered only in Magnums, and only in packages of 3?
A. A number of reasons. Magnums age more slowly than smaller formats, allowing the wines a longer, more graceful life in bottle. Magnums provide a larger backdrop for beautiful labels. Magnums are more likely consumed on special occasions, which we believe depiction merits. As far as boxes of 3, it makes consumption more likely on three separate occasions, which provides an opportunity to see the expression of each release of depiction at different parts of its life cycle, which we think is part of the pleasure of knowing a vineyard and wine.
Q. How do you select artists to partner with?
A. We do not select artists consistently from one style, geographic location, or any other predetermined criteria. For example, our inaugural vintage 2012 artwork was done by good friend, abstract artist Monika Steiner, originally from Switzerland now working out of Tiburon, CA. Our current release, 2013, features Brian Nash, from Nashville, TN. His work is whimsical, gregarious, and fun; and differs dramatically from an aesthetic sense from Monika’s. The only commonality between the two artists, and their artwork, is that they are both true to themselves, and both works spoke to us.
